Survival…last man standing
Human evolution has produced a body that places standing ability as its top priority. Standing tall with level eyesight, we’re able to see potential danger or accurately aim our attack. Our basic survival instinct of “fight or flight” relies on optimal balance…quite simply, if we fall in the jungle, our game is over. To ensure our survival, nature has developed an Extracellular Matrix (ECM) that orchestrates this “don’t fall” instinct to all body parts. Predating our nervous system, this body-wide communication network is commonly known as “fascia”.
The Matrix is our largest organ, monitors both our internal and external environment, and supervises all health processes especially healing.
Rules of the Matrix
The matrix has three basic rules: Collect, Conceal, and Compensate.
• Collect hold on to your fears
Our body’s natural response to the unknown is to stiffen itself…potential threats are “captured” and memorized in our matrix…“frozen in time”, bracing to uphold a strong appearance.
• Conceal never let’em see you sweat
Evolution has taught us to hide our injuries. Our matrix, containing our entire history of trauma, is instinctively silent, choosing to appear physically capable rather than weak or injured.
• Compensate fake it 'til you make it
Our body has survived by the natural sharing of stress. Every threat has been instantly memorized and systematically distributed… the stronger parts compensating for the most damaged. It is this rule that confuses our modern world. Our body will compensate preferentially toward optimal posture…our survival instincts again
The Problem…overburden
Ruled by this natural process of collecting, concealing, and compensating for stress, we can become “colored” by our “negative” experiences… influencing everything from thoughts to physical health. Unresolved “threat patterns” will congest our matrix and block our efficient flow of energy. In fact, we will frequently borrow energy from our cardiovascular or immune system etc… in order to “stand and fight ”!
All disease begins within the matrix due to the accumulation of stress. The Solution…breathe out
In an evolutionary sense, we couldn’t have survived without our ECM. Our matrix allowed us time to “digest” our environment at our own pace… processing our potential dangers into lessons. By learning from life’s challenges, we gain essential wisdom to thrive. Healing comes from the full circle of experiences. Initial “threats” must grow into deep experience…each experience into sincere gratitude. Resolving accumulated stress will erase our matrix memory and redistribute much needed energy for healing.
We’ve been holding our breath for an eternity… it may be time to breathe out.
